Our Town
The sprouting of Elias Fausto has origin at the railroad worker occasions, as consequence of sugar agriculture, in accented development in the region between Itú and Piracicaba, having occurred, in 1875, the creation of a station in km 173 of the railway Sorocabana, in territory of the Monte Mor city, what provoked the establishment of many families in the immediacy and the consequent sprouting of a local population, to the edges of the Carneiro stream.
This way, the city of ELIAS FAUSTO was being built, whose denomination was given in homage to the Engineer and Politician Elias Fausto Pacheco Jordão, who was the person in charge for the construction of the local branch railroad, beyond innumerable other workmanships to the time of the Empire, being distinguished among them the urbanization project of Pitangueiras neighborhood, in Guarujá city.
On November 30th, 1944, Elias Fausto conquest its politico-administrative emancipation, having been installed the city on January 1st, 1945. From December 24th, 1948 the CARDEAL district was created by law, which today composes with Elias Fausto the two cities that integrate the city.
